Image description: West front of St Paul's Cathedral (detail) in late sun, City of London.
This view shows one of St Paul's west towers - a beautifully intricate and airy structure of stone - and the cathedral's magnificent central dome. Its shallow ribs lead the eye upwards to a Baroque lantern and a little dome, surmounted by a ball and cross. The ball is 6 ft (2m) in diameter.
