The name 'Big Ben' was originally given to the Great Bell of Westminster, but nowadays applies to the bell, clock and St Stephen's Tower of the Houses of Parliament. The clock faces, designed by Pugin, are 22.5 feet in diameter and weigh 40 tons each. Each minute space is 1 square foot.
