These photographs form part of the London Image Collection and cover some of the major shopping areas and districts in London. It is a popular and growing archive. Shopping in London is a diverse and many splendored activity, from the tourist tat kiosks and shops of Oxford Street, to the chic clothing boutiques, jewelry stores and galleries along Old Bond Street, New Bond Street and tailors established in Savile Row.
Find here images of Oxford Street and Piccadilly tourist stuff: Union Jack hats, thongs (flip-flops), double-decker bus toys; a giant red-uniformed teddy bear; and a pile of plastic bobby hats. Also find pictures taken in some of the finer shopping districts and streets: of shoppers with shopping bags in Burlington Gardens, Old Bond Street and the Burlington Arcade. There are images of department store delis, blurring taxis and luxury cars, passers-by in motion, shop window fashion and Savile Row tailor's windows and street signs.
