These photographs form part of the London Image Collection and cover the Thames Barrier, with some views through the barrier of Docklands and Canary Wharf at dusk. The Thames Barrier was built between 1974 and 1982, and protects greater London from high surge tides. The barrier is a remarkable feat of marine engineering and flood control, with huge rotating gates beneath the surface of the river supported by the 'modules' or structures visible in the above photographs.
