For over 25 years I have worked in photography and graphic design. I have been lucky to be able to bring photographic and graphic design together and work with them in harmony.
For six years I managed my own online image library, producing primarily editorial stock travel imagery of London, the River Thames and Southern & Southeastern England — that have appeared in magazines, newspapaers, travel guides and books all over the world.
In parallel I have written a variety of illustrated articles and research pieces about boating, travel, photography and photographic understanding.
Born and raised in Montreal, I was first seduced by Britain in 1982 and lived and worked professionally in London until 2009 ... when my partner Karen and I embarked on a long-time dream to live on a narrowboat!
We moved afloat to experience the English countryside more directly and take inspiration from it. We also wanted to become part of the friendly, independent and wonderfully diverse inland waterways community — one that manages to retain a 1950s neighbourhood spirit overlaid with technological and wireless savvy, grounded in a down-to-earth (and water) ecological awareness.
This experience lead to my first illustrated book, Narrowboat Life: Discover Life Afloat on the Inland Waterways, published in 2016 by Bloomsbury.
A floating studio is wonderfully bright, compact and mobile. And, no, it's not cold in the winter!
